Me: Wait, so you can eat burnt french fries, but when I try to eat burnt brownies, it's unhealthy.
Dad: Burnt food is bad for you! That's why the cavemen didn't last long. Because they were toasting possum over a fire all day.
Me: They didn't have possum-
Dad: Possumosaurus.

Today I was trying to use a pressure washer.
Long story short I now know what it is like to be sprayed in the face with a pressure washer.

The best part was I didn't even fix the swing.
I was on a swing set with my friend Paul and the chains of his swing had been thrown over the top bar so he was trying to throw it over the other side to make it normal again but he couldn’t so I tried and I jumped up and lost my balance and stumbled backwards and then my face hit the ground and it was all really a blur from there.

Someday I will make this dream a reality.
Friend: If you could have any pet, what would it be? I'd want a unicorn.
Me: I want a giant monitor lizard that I could put in a baby carrier sling and I'd walk around with it -but I'd keep it covered up - so when people are like 'oh is that a baby how cute' I'd be like 'no it's a white-throated monitor lizard' and it would flick its tongue at them and I'd feed it grapes.
Friend: Okay.

Every time we walked by. THIS GUY.
Carnival Guy: Hey! Hey three throws for a dollar!
Me: No thank you-
Carnival Guy: Hey!
Carnival Guy: Hey is that yours?
Me: What-
Carnival Guy: -points to ground- IS THAT YOURS
Friend: Wha-
Carnival Guy: I THINK IT'S YOURS
Me: No, I don-
Friend: What is it?
Carnival Guy: IT'S A PLACE IN LINE
Carnival Guy: THREE THROWS FOR A DOLLAR.
Me: NO.

Ohhh goodness yes. Its size hits me the most when I hold a violin and it’s so light and isn’t heavy but still makes sounds and I don’t even know what to think about anything anymore.
Ooooh gosh violins are scary to me now! I don’t understand how people can tell the difference between...

Same! It doesn’t even seem that huge anymore, especially since I play a 3/4 among 4/4s.
I know!
My bass looks so little sometimes. And then sometimes it’s the biggest thing in the world. It’s all perspective, my dear. Context.
When I first started they weren’t sure if I...

Agh you had a wheel? Lucky you. I used the strap on mine though. It was useful but I had to slouch while backpacking it. Carrying it backwards IS a lot easier than forwards, I agree
Well, I used to just lug it around by the gig bag handles until I hurt my back. And thus the wheel became my best friend. Props...

I hate it when people complain about carrying their instruments. Last year in my school’s band I had to play bari sax, and in orchestra I played double bass, so I had it pretty bad with bulky instruments
Honey I know it. Carrying a double bass takes endurance. It’s easier for me to walk backwards when...

I know right! Do you play a 4/4? Last year in orchestra I played double bass. It’s a 3/4 size but still pretty big
Oh I may be tall but I’m not big enough for a 4/4 haha! Yeah, mine’s a 3/4.
The best reaction I get is from kids. There’s one at the studio I practice at who would always...

The thing about the upright bass is that the shock value of the sheer size of it wears off after a while.
So whenever I transport it and people stare I’m always like “what do you want”
“Why are you all staring at me”
